Lockett Meadow Roadkill
I heard another photographer joke that her photo taken beside the road was "roadkill." This image couldn't be a better illustration. I didn't even get out of the car to take this shot. I just rolled up and pushed my point-and-shoot out the window and clicked.
The Embrace

Crested Saguaro
A gorgeous genetic mutation of the saguaro cactus. This beauty was on a hillside affording me an eye-level view.
Rock Stars
This was the first thing I saw as I walked the short distance from the parking lot to the lip of the canyon overlooking the monument. This rock in the foreground and it's twin to the right are part of a famous Ansel Adams photographic composition. They have been photographed by countless photographers through the years. I wouldn't be surprised to find out this particular composition has been done a million times or so. Still, it is a slice in time never to be repeated no matter how original or not it is.
Verde River Reflections
The Sun and clouds are reflected in the Verde River below Horseshoe Lake.
Family Matters
A very dense stand of saguaros of all ages overlooks Roosevelt Lake. The bridge on Hwy 188 is also seen in the top right.
Smoke Signals
A curious cloud hovers over the ancient dwelling of Wukoki at the Wupatki National Monument in northern Arizona.
Black Stripe
Snow was still clinging to the trees on the north side of this slope while the clouds continued to hang low over the mountains. The side canyon I stopped at was a perfect vantage point to shoot back across the valley at all this monochrome goodness. The only part of this image that appears to be in color is the right-hand corner.
Kofa Mountain Panorama
A large portion of the Kofa Mountains were captured in this 10-frame panorama on a cloudy morning in western Arizona.
Lockett Meadow Tank Reeds
First light almost deleted the Fall color of yellow aspen on the slopes above Lockett Meadow in the San Francisco Peaks. This small tank is a favorite stop and often photographed feature of the meadow.
Spotlight
A distant peak is captured in the early morning light with a long telephoto lens at the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge.
Tilting Sunflower
A sunflower tilts its leaves toward the rising morning sun.

Roadside Chapel
I got stuck in a couple construction stops during my time south of Ouray on the Million Dollar Highway in southwestern Colorado. I never did make it up to Yankee Boy Basin like I wanted to due to road closures. This photograph was quickly taken on a construction stop where I was moving in between the stops. I had to take at least one decent shot down the valley and paused to squeeze off a couple frames. The elevated view and bend in the road provided my only opportunity to capture this visual rapture. The people waiting on the other side didn't seem to mind the extra delay, thankfully. It was hard to be in a hurry. Church was in session.
Totems
A panoramic view of the iconic Totem and Yei Bi Chei at Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. This was the last of my big trips in 2015. I only had a few hours in the park and I made the best of it.
Snow and Fog
Low hanging clouds, freshly fallen snow and majestic peaks of Colorado's San Juan Mountains. This color photograph is almost monochrome and flies in the face of the fact it was peak Fall color in the area.
Fog Orb
Designs in the fog hover over the trees of the San Juan Forest. It was no hardship sitting at the construction stop while this was going on nearby.
