This large, winding sculpture was part of the playground at the Water Ranch. There was a decidedly "water" theme to the art. You can see the main lake off to the right.
I heard, then saw, a small group of peach-faced lovebirds in this tree. Just one of many escaped cage-birds that have established small feral populations around town. I've seen lovebirds all over town as well as budgies, cockatiels and ring-necked parakeets.
A controversy in the Preserve over a feral population of cats has bird lovers and cat lovers at odds with each other. A small cat population exploded and threw fire on the situation. Some animals were trapped and taken to animal control. Unfortunately, feral animals can't be adopted as pets and are euthanized.
If given enough time, Nature would undoubtedly restore the balance with an influx of predators. Probably coyotes. But that wouldn't be so great either.
