A short hike off the road leads to this abandoned overlook. Many years ago you could drive to this vista, but access has long since been restricted. There is a paved road, but a gate prevents access. It's been that way as long as I can remember... over 10 years.

On this trip to South Mountain, I noticed a lot of other places I remember being able to pull over at are now blocked. Now, there are only a few spots to stop. I would imagine budget cuts to the parks department are responsible.
