If you've ever gone tubing down the Salt River you should know this spot. Just downstream is where most people put in to cruise the river on inner tubes. This is a favorite pasttime for locals wanting to escape the extreme heat of the Arizona summer. It's a unique experience...you end up frying on the front side while the back side freezes from sitting in the cold water being released from under Saguaro Lake's dam.
It was a beautiful late-fall, early-winter day. The trees were finally changing colors even though it was nearly Christmas. There were a handful of people fly fishing for the stocked rainbow trout.
I was just killing time waiting for the light to get to the magic hour when I shot this. As it turned out, this was the magic light and the shot I thought would be the best wasn't nearly as good. It's funny how that worked out. Here's the other shot...
Still, I learned never to judge a shot until I get home and see it on my computer screen. What seems like "The Location" or shot may not be and it pays to shoot everything like it's "The One."
