This photograph was taken for an article in Monterey Life Magazine in 1987. This area is on the way to Salinas, California near Monterey. The story dealt with the efforts of builders to create homesites that used the existing natural envelope and did not remove any trees. The homes also were not visible from nearby roads and highways. California lead the nation with some of the most restrictive environmental building regulations. It can literally take years and thousands of dollars just to get the necessary building permits. |
