ROOSEVELT LAKE BRIDGE

Part of the dam renovation project, the $21.3 million bridge was built in 1990 to take traffic off the roadway over the dam. This roadway built in the early 1900s was only wide enough to accomodate 2 Model-T Fords abreast. It was not nearly wide enough for today's recreational vehicles and full-sized cars and trucks. In 1995, it was considered one of the top 12 bridges in the U.S. for it's overall design, size and visual appeal. And it still may be the longest single span, two-laned, steel-arch bridge in North America.
