My good friend, Preston Havens, worked as disc jockey for KELN Radio in North Platte, Nebraska during the 1970s and 80s. It was fun to be in the studio and watch him at work as long as you were super quiet. The reels behind him were the music and the rack just to his left were the commercials. He had a play list and would switch between the cart player and the reels with voice over in between.
So much has changed since then. Most of this equipment would probably be considered antiques now. I doubt they even use reel-to-reel tape decks anymore. Everything must be digital.
