This is a detail from a full 360 degree panorama. I hiked a hundred and fifty yards off the road to this spot. I was careful to step only on rocks so as not to leave any footprints.

It is a hostile and very fragile ecosystem here. Not much is hardy enough to put roots down except for a few grasses. It's a little hard to believe that 225 million years ago, there was forest here.
