MOGOLLON RIM THUNDERSTORM

I hadn't been on the Mogollon Rim road for a while and took a couple days during the dog days of August to explore it. Forest Service road 300 starts a few miles north of Strawberry off Hwy 87 and follows the rim over to Hwy 260. It's a decent dirt road with some spectacular views, especially on the west side where this shot was taken. I stopped at Bear Canyon and Knoll Lakes on this trip, before driving around near Flagstaff and Wupatki National Monument.

Thunderstorms on the rim were brewing. I sat in the truck for a while before getting this shot. The rain was spotty and there were opportunities to shoot. Shortly after a shower, coulds would bubble up from far below the rim. They seemed to come from nowhere before disapating.
