This seasonal waterfall is located north and east of Flagstaff on the Navajo Indian Reservation. I had visited Grand Falls the year before and it was completely dry. It was the middle of the summer and The Little Colorado River was no where to be found. Only a couple small pools could be seen at the base of the falls.
I returned in March 2010 at the height of the flow. The ground trembled from the power of the water. Spray flew up into my face as it roared like a freight train going down the tracks. I spent the entire day soaking up the site.
At one point, two indian girls made their way down the steep canyon walls directly across from me. Their route was obviously familiar, but probably only to a few. I sat in amazement at what looked like an impossible climb down. They zig-zagged their way down, moving horizontally at times, disappearing in fissures only to reappear many feet lower. it looked like great fun.
A steady stream of people descended on my side. A well worn path looked fairly easy compared to the route the girls on the other side took.
