I found a small waterfall along the stream. The stream drops dramtically so there is no shortage of waterfalls. A couple places along the stream have some fairly dramatic drops. I didn't see the largest waterfall, but I understand it's over 20 feet high. There is also a shallow travertine cave around the large pool formed by the falls. Next time...
I also want to see Fossil Springs next time. Water from deep within the Mogollon Rim's sandstone bubbles up at the top of the canyon. In a 1/4 mile stretch of the canyon, several dozen springs combine to flow at a constant average of 20,000 gallons a minute and supply 30-50% of the Verde River's water. Amazing!
I urge everyone to experience the Fossil Creek Wilderness for themselves. The natural wonders of this most diverse and historic area are a treasure for all Arizonan's.
