Even though this photo was taken at nearly the same time as the previous image, the north side of Point Lobos was in heavy fog. The fog blanketed the coast daily in the summer. It would roll in during the morning hours and burn off in the afternoons. The winters, on the other hand, were curiously absent of fog. The fog had an effect on one's moods and people would grow tired of it. Long-time residents of the Monterey peninsula affectionately called it The Fog Monster.
