From the exit on I-17, Bloody Basin Road bisects the Agua Fria National Monument and continues east to the Verde River. The AF Monument is a fairly new park with the majority on the Perry Mesa 40 miles north of Phoenix. Over 400 archeological sites spanning nearly 2000 years of human activity are found in the area. Up to 3,000 people may have called this land home between A.D. 1250 to 1450.
