The B1 bomber program was cancelled in the Carter administration and reborn during Ronald Reagan's presidency. Originally created as a replacement to the B52, it evolved into a low-level penetrator. The B1B is the USAF's only variable-sweep wing aircraft with the retirement of the F-111 Raven and the F-14 Tomcat.
I thought it was curious that everyone used the bomber as an awning for relief from the heat at the Cox Air Show at William's Airport. "If you park it, they will come. And they will sit under your high-tech, aerodynamic fuselage in their lawn chairs with their coolers and baby strollers." At a cost of $283.1 million, that's some expensive awning...
The rest of the shots are from various years of the Cox Air Show. I think the only air show currently being held is at Luke AFB in Glendale every other year.
