A small splinter road allowed me to overlook the valley and watch the storm clouds build most of the afternoon. They did not disappoint. The clouds were amazing. I could see lightning off in the distance that I tried to shoot, but it was too light out for a long enough exposure to capture. I spent a couple hours here enjoying the show.
Lightning is fun to shoot and the results are always unexpected. My favorite technique is to use a long exposure and to keep taking shots so the shutter is open as often as possible, thus making it possible to catch some lightning. If the clouds are moving from wind, shorter shutter speeds are needed to stop them from looking motion blurred.
